Germany may make some of the best cars in the world, but do they make the best LCMS?
ILIAS, an open source Learning Content Management System, was released to the world over 10 years ago by the University of Cologne. Collaboratively developed to a strong and consistent roadmap it provides all the functionality that is expected in a first class LCMS (including SCORM compliance, content development tool, tests and assessments and social learning facilities). Find out more. Used across the globe in academia, health, military training, commercial enterprises and not for profit organisations, ILIAS continues to be developed to address the needs of its customer base and, of course, it is free to download, install and use!
Fildean is now a member of the ILIAS Open Source Society. The Society has over 60 members who are directly responsible for the strategic direction for ILIAS development and for maintaining the day-to-day performance of the software. John Taylor (CEO at Fildean) said: 'One of the major attractions of ILIAS is its clear and closely managed roadmap, and with one major release a year the focus is always on consolidation and improvement'.
For release of version 4.2, due in July 2011, the focus is on the development of ILIAS into the Human Capital Management area with the integration of e-portfolio and competence management facilities.
Fildean provide full installation, implementation, tailoring and support expertise around ILIAS to the UK market. If you would like to find out why Fildean selected ILIAS and how Fildean could help you exploit the benefits of a free LCMS then contact John at john.taylor@fildean.com.
